On Gotland, for the fifth year in a row, the Viking Age is celebrated with a Viking week. A warm welcome to Stavgard in Burs where tales of legend come true.

At Stavgard our visitors meet vikings who show handcrafts and tell stories. Here visitors can buy food and listen to musicians. Every day there is a show fight at the arena.

Info about Stavgard: Stavgard is a unique place on Gotland, located on the south-eastern side of the island in Burs parish. The site is surrounded by ruins and burial cairns from the Iron Age. Among them the ruin of the largest Iron Age house in northern Europe, which may have been the home of the hero Beowulf. Stavgard is a recreated Viking village and in the summer it is filled with visitors and Vikings. Here is a smithy, cloth is woven and dyed, bread is baked and various crafts are carried out. You can try some of them yourself. When you as a visitor come to Stavgard, you will be guided by our visitor hosts who will also tell you the exciting story of Store Stavar. After the guide and the story, you can try archery, a craft or bake bread.
