Site Overview
An interactive visitor centre with both an ancient and more modern history
This is a modern, interactive visitor centre within the grounds of a ruined Cistercian abbey. The land was granted by the Norse king of Man and the Isles, Olaf I, in 1134.
A number of Norse kings were subsequently buried here.
The site's use as a monastery is explained and the later history of the site as an entertainment resort and disco is also explored.
