Where unique picture stones tell the story of the Vikings

On a visit to Gotlands Museum you will learn about the exceptional and rich archaeology and history of the Vikings of Gotland.

An exhibition on unique picture stones from Gotland tells about the religious life, dress and costume of Viking-Age men and women, as well as the Vikings´ ships, travels and warfare.

In the treasury you can explore the contents and meaning of the largest silver hoard ever found (it weighs almost 70kg).

Visitors can also learn more about Viking-Age funerals and graves. Well-preserved and very rich graves express gender roles, social status and the life and death of the Gotlandic Vikings.
