A journey through Iceland's past and present

The National Museum's permanent exhibition, 'Making of a Nation', provides insight into the history of the Icelandic people from the settlement to the present day. Temporary exhibitions are diverse and intended to appeal to different groups. Most draw on the museum collection and researchers‘ work on collection items.

The Culture House, which is a part of the National Museum, has always been considered one of Iceland's most beautiful buildings. The main exhibition, called 'Points of View', takes guests on a journey through the Icelandic visual world of past and present.

The museum shops offers a stylish and educational atmosphere with specially produced goods and handicrafts among selection of books on Icelandic language, art and culture.
