Centre of Slavs and Vikings

Site Overview

See Viking and Middle-Age buildings, crafts, and everyday life

The Centre of Slavs and Vikings in Wolin, Poland, shows reconstructed buildings and crafts from the Viking Age and early Middle Ages – from the 9th to 11th century.

Everyday Life

Here you can see how everyday life might have been for people during ancient times; how they lived and worked.

Inside the various buildings you can see replicas of furniture, tools and everyday objects from a thousand years ago.

Workshops and Experimental Archaeology

The centre arranges workshops in experimental archaeology and, unlike normal museums, all exhibits and all the equipment can not only be seen but can be touched.

You can try out the various tools, sit in "historical" chairs, lie in a bed as it might have been long ago, or simply wander around exploring the time of the Slavs and Vikings.

Reconstruction

The project involves the experimental reconstruction of 27 buildings.
