Trelleborgen

At the highest point in the city, traces of a Viking ring castle, a so-called trelleborg, were found in 1988. With the discovery of the castle, the city's name also got its explanation.

Trelleborgen as it stands today is a reconstruction that was completed in 1995. A quarter of the castle is built on its original site and is located in the middle of the modern city, it also houses a reconstructed medieval house, also found on the site.

Outside the castle there is now a Viking farm with associated small buildings. The Viking Museum has a Viking exhibition, a shop and a café.
