One of the best preserved medieval castles, this impressive fortress was built around 1200 on the orders of King Rognvaldur, one of the Norse kings of the Kingdom of Man and the Isles.
The castle also has interpretation about the later history under the English lords of Man and the period when the castle was the island’s prison.
