The Follow the Vikings Roadshow, funded by Creative Europe, is a unique audio-visual celebration of the cultural and historic impact of the Vikings. The international touring show includes specially commissioned performances by contemporary artists from all of Europe, including actors, musicians, dancers and film makers to create a stunning visual celebration of Viking heritage.
The show has been performed at ten significant Viking locations over a two year programme from August 2017 to March 2019, with the grande finale performed in York on 2 March bringing together participating artists from several of the shows.
Each show is unique - each location has sought out professional and amateur artists and performers, as well as members of the public, both young and old, to be involved in their local event. These groups have worked with creative director, Craig Morrison, and professional choreographer, Ann Kathrin Granhus, as well as specialists from each local region, including makeup artisits, musicians and dance professionals.
These events have supported the development of new and enhanced skills for professional artists, the Follow the Vikings project partners' staff and members of the local communities.
There are two performances in York - 17.00 and 19.00, tickets priced £5 adults and £3 children 12+/students/aged 60+ available from https://yat.digitickets.co.uk/event-tickets/18614?catID=4580
